Hurricane Isaias developed late Wednesday as the first Atlantic hurricane of 2026. Its development this late in the year tied a historical record.
According to the National Hurricane Center's 8 a.m. Friday advisory, Category 2 Hurricane Isaias is in the Gulf of Mexico, 245 miles south of Pensacola, Florida and 170 miles south-southeast of the Mouth of the Mississippi River. The hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph, is moving to the north-northeast at 15 mph.
The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to bring widespread rainfall totals of up to 2 inches across New Jersey on Sunday and into early Monday.
Hurricane Isaias' path takes it over Gulf Coast states before it impacts the Boston weather forecast.
It's now a typhoon. The Associated Press reports Nolo became a typhoon after the storm crossed the international date line Sunday. Typhoon Nolo still maintained Category 3 hurricane characteristics with maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour before crossing a line in the Pacific Ocean that separates one day from the next.

Downtown Los Angeles is unlikely to reach 100 degrees for the sixth straight day on Wednesday.
Scenario 3: Tropical Storm Isaias forms, heads north and makes landfall on the Gulf Coast, bringing strong winds and storm surge on top of heavy rain. This scenario would be the most impactful outcome, although Isaias would still likely stay below hurricane strength.
